An unidentified person on Friday called up the Mumbai Police and allegedly threatened to kidnap Maharashtra Minister of State for Home (Rural) Nitin Raut's daughter, police sources said.
The anonymous caller phoned up at the control room of Mumbai police from his mobile phone informing them that he would kidnap some person, Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Himanshu Roy said.
"The mobile phone number was displayed in the control room and investigations were on to find out whose phone it is," he said.
Roy refused to disclose whom the caller was referring to. However, police sources said the caller has said he would kidnap Raut's daughter. To a question, Roy said Raut's family is staying in Nagpur and safe.
"The crime branch is probing the matter," he said adding no complaint has been registered with the police.
