The Ulhasnagar crime branch unit has cracked the case involving the murder of 35-year-old Krishnachandra Mishra, whose body was found four days ago on the Kalyan-Badlapur Road in Ambernath.
On Wednesday, the police arrested the man's wife Priti, her lover Jiyaan Sheikh, 22, and three
accomplices Damodar Adaaike, 24, Jaisingh alias Raja Mudliyaar, 25, and Akshay alias Babu Gaikwad.

Inspector Machindra Dange, the officer in charge of the investigations, said that on January 27, Priti lodged a complaint with the Central police station that her husband had gone missing. She said her husband had not returned from his workplace in Dombivli.

On January 29, the police found Mishra's body. When the police began to question Priti about the murder, she broke down and confessed that Sheikh and she planned the murder and had hired contract killers for the job. They paid the killers Rs1 lakh.

Priti said she had been having an affair with Sheikh, a college student. Her husband disapproved of the relationship and started creating trouble for them. Priti told the police that she decided to end their hardship by murdering her husband.

According to the plan Adaaike, Jaisingh and Akshay struck up a friendship with Mishra and made plans with him for a party on January 27. They had a drinking session at Bittu Bar in Ulhasnagar, following which, they asked Mishra to join them at a dhaba for dinner. When they reached the Ambernath-Dombivli MIDC Road, the men got off their motorcycles on the pretext of answering nature's call.

When Mishra alighted, two of the four men held his hands while the third man attacked him with a chopper. He stabbed Mishra in his chest, stomach, hands and neck. The men then dumped his body behind some bushes, from where it was discovered by the police a few days later.
