Polling began for by-elections in two assembly constituencies in Manipur on Saturday.

The two constituencies-- Khundrakpam in Imphal East district and Khangbok in Thoubal district-- were left vacant after the death of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Navakumar Singh and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh respectively.

Ibobi Singh, who was elected from Khangabok and Thoubal in February last assembly polls, has retained Thoubal seat.

Out of the nine candidates, three are contesting in Khangabok and six in Khundrakpam.

O Landhoni (Congress), wife of O Ibobi Singh, is contesting from Khangabok assembly constituency.
