20-year-old gangraped, murdered in Belgaum

A 20-year-old college student was gangraped and murdered by unidentified persons in Belgaum, Karnataka.


The woman’s body was found with her head smashed in on Saturday, a day after she went missing from Sulebhavi village.

On Friday, the woman, a second year arts student was returning home after she had appeared for her fourth semester exams. Around 2.30pm, at the bus station, she told her friend to proceed while she stayed back saying she had some work there.

When she did not return home till the evening, her parents lodged a complaint. The next day, police found her body on a farm. Police said the injuries indicated there was more than one person involved in the rape and murder.

The police said there were some words written on her thighs. The student’s parents said the family had been preparing for her wedding that had been fixed for May 18.
