The crime branch on Tuesday night arrested three bookies who were accepting bets on a T-20 match between the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Daredevils, from a flat in the western suburbs.
Sleuths raided a flat at Khan Towers, Jogeshwari (East) on receiving a tip off about betting activities. The police arrested Jogeshwari residents Irfan Ansari and his accomplices, Shafi Mulla and Sikandar Khan.
Police officials said that they seized 31 mobile phones, an LCD tv, a laptop and Rs. 16,860 in cash, valued at over Rs. 1,23,160 during the raid. A case has been registered with the Oshiwara police station under relevant sections of the IPC. The accused have been remanded to police custody till April 15 by a local court on Wednesday.
