Four persons were seriously injured as their car overturned after colliding with a truck at the Eastern Express Highway near Vikhroli at 2.30am on Friday.

The incident occurred near the T-junction when Kalwa residents Bhavesh R Patel, 27, his brother Satish and sister Rinku were heading home with their driver Amol Dalvi.

“The incident occurred just ahead of the Vikhroli flyover. As Dalvi noticed a truck ahead of him, he flashed the car’s light asking for space to move. While the truck driver allowed Dalvi to pass, he suddenly turned right. The rear side of the truck collided with the car, after which Dalvi lost control over the vehicle,” said Mahipat Indalkar, senior police inspector, Vikhroli police station.

The injured were rushed to a civic hospital in Mulund. “All of them have sustained serious injuries. The truck driver, Prasankumar Bhima Nayak, had fled from the spot. He was arrested later,” said Indalkar.
