Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan has received 60 representations and petitions from various individuals and organisations regarding Sanjay Dutt, with some seeking and others opposing clemency for the actor.
The governor has now sent them to the state home department for the next course of action. Secretary to the Governor, Vikas Chandra Rastogi sent the representations to the additional chief secretary, home, Amitabh Rajan on April 4.
During the past few days, the governor received representations from citizens and organisations from all parts of the country. These include the petition sent by Markandey Katju, the chairman of the Press Council of India and others.
The Governor had earlier sent a petition received from MP Jaya Prada and former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh to the state home department on March 28.
At least 25 of the 60 petitioners have opposed pardon for Dutt.
