A nine-year-old girl was raped and murdered at Worli during the wee hours on Tuesday.
The police said the girl's body was found 100ft from the footpath where she lived, and her autopsy report revealed she had been raped and subsequently strangled to death.

According to the police, the deceased went to sleep along with her parents on a footpath in the area on Monday night.
At around 6am, when her parents woke up, they found their daughter missing, after which they started searching for the girl.
Her body was found half-an-hour later near their hut, hidden among the plants kept there for the beautification of the footpath.
Locals informed the police, who rushed the girl to nearby Nair hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
“Medical reports have confirmed the victim was raped and strangulated. A rape and murder case has been registered against an unknown person and the accused will be arrested soon,” said police inspector Sushil Ingale from Worli police station.
