The police have a total of nine eyewitnesses in the Axis Bank fraud case where Rs15.47 lakh was siphoned off from bank accounts of 37 people, including 15 policemen.

The police are now in the process of recording their statements to make the case stronger.

The list of eyewitnesses also include the security guard of the compromised Colaba ATM, with whom the two suspects – Bulgarian nationals – interacted after fixing a skimming device to the ATM machine.

The police recently issued a green corner notice against the two Bulgarians, identified as Tseneev Tulian and Evanov Pelin.

The money was withdrawn from different locations in Greece in April.

The list of eyewitnesses includes staffers of the hotels where the suspected foreign nationals stayed besides the ATM security guard Haider Ali.

The officials said the CCTV footage of the ATM outlet showed that the two suspects interacted with Ali after fixing the skimming device and exiting the outlet.

The duo exchanged pleasantries, officials said.

“Apart from Ali, the other eyewitnesses include four managers and accountants of the Apollo Hotel, Shubha Hotel [both in Colaba], Four Seasons in Worli and IBIS Hotel in Andheri, where the accused stayed while in Mumbai,” said Krishna Prakash, additional commissioner of police (south region).
