Stating that the 70% mandatory consent for slum redevelopment under Slum Rehabilitation Authority is slowing down the process of redevelopment, builders’ body has proposed the state government an alternative to speed up the process and also create low cost housing. As per the proposal,
sent by Builders’ Association of India (BAI), slum redevelopment projects should be implemented by Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada), Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority or City and Industrial Development Corporation. BAI sent the suggestion to the state government for the second time this year.
