On November 19 last month, the minimum temperature dropped to 14.6 degrees Celsius.

Though in the past decade, the minimum temperature in December rose above 15 degrees Celsius only in 2002, 2004 and 2006 (rest of the years it ranged between 11 and 13 degrees Celsius), the minimum temperature in November had dipped to 14.4 degrees Celsius in 2007.

The minimum temperature recorded in south Mumbai marginally dipped below normal at 19.5 degrees Celsius. The daytime temperatures rose with Colaba at 31.7 degrees Celsius and 31.8 degrees Celsius in Santacruz.

"Apart from western disturbances approaching Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir, temperatures have dipped because of cold wave conditions in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh," said VK Rajeev, director, western region, IMD. Weathermen have predicted that temperatures will rise by up to 2 degrees Celsius in next two days.
