A three-day-old baby was found abandoned late on Friday night in Gondivli village in Andheri (East).

The Andheri police said residents had heard her crying around 1am. "A couple heard a baby crying outside their house.

On checking they found the infant wrapped in a cloth. They informed the police control room. We have taken her to Cooper hospital," said Pradeep Gosavi, senior inspector, Andheri police station.

Authorities at Cooper hospital said the baby was healthy and that they would begin the process of sending her to the Child Welfare Committee on Monday.
