The Gamdevi police, who are investigating the suicide case of renowned singer Asha Bhosle’s daughter Varsha, on Saturday, recorded the statement of Anand Bhosle, younger cousin of the deceased.

The officials however stated that they might recall Anand for further inquiry if required. Meanwhile, the Bhosles have submitted the letter of cancellation of the gun license of the 0.6 mm Belgian make pistol, after the weapon was lost in 1990. Varsha had shot herself with the same pistol.

Anand Bhosle visited the office of deputy commissioner of police (Zone II) in the afternoon, where the investigating officer of the case recorded his statement. The police have said that nothing new has come to the fore, as Anand said that he stayed elsewhere and hence didn’t meet Varsh often.

Pradip Lonandkar, senior inspector of Gamdevi police station said, “We have recorded statements of five persons in the case. We also have the letter with us, which mentions that the gun license of Asha Bhosle was cancelled in June 1991, after the gun was misplaced.”

The pistol was allegedly lost in 1990, when Asha Bhosale informed the police, following which, the then commissioner of police reprimanded her and her license was cancelled subsequently.

Meanwhile, the police are awaiting the result of the ballistic analysis of the pistol, which would shed light on the maintenance aspect of the weapon. The officials would now speak to the doctors who treated Varsha for her ailments.
