The summer season, or pre-monsoon season as referred by the meteorology department, kicked in on Tuesday.

“The intensity of the north westerly cold winds over the western region including the city will start reducing. This will further heat up the local air and temperatures will rise,” said RV Sharma, deputy director general, western region, India Meteorological Department.

According to the weathermen, wind speed has already begun falling and therefore it has started getting hot. On Tuesday, the average minimum temperature was 22.3 degree Celsius while the average maximum temperature was recorded at 34.3 degree Celsius.

In the past few weeks, the average minimum and maximum temperatures have been fluctuating because of the continuous flow of northeasterly winds. Ten day ago, the minimum temperatures dipped to 15.7 degree Celsius and the maximum temperatures also witnessed a minor dip at 29 degree Celsius from an average 31 degree Celsius.

The weather department predicts the maximum and minimum temperatures as 36 and 21 degree Celsius respectively for the next 24 hours.

Sharma said humidity during the day will increase with moisture from the sea moving over land and interacting with the local breeze. “Nights will also be humid with land breeze moving over the sea causing unease,” he added.
