The police investigation into the murder of a 58-year-old at Bhandup on Friday has hit a minor roadblock. Officers were relying on footage from the CCTV camera installed in the bank on the ground floor of Amardeep building, where the victim resided, to determine who had entered the building. However, the video has developed technical issues, so the police will have to wait till Monday to get another copy of it.

“The camera covers the building entrance. We wanted to check the persons who entered the building, but the footage has developed a technical error and is not working. We will have to wait till Monday,” said an officer.

The body of Sangeeta Sawant, a widow who lived with her son in Amardeep building, was found by her son on Friday evening when he returned from work. Jewellery and cash were also missing. A case of murder has been registered with the Kanjurmarg police.

Cops are looking for a plumber and an electrician who were to visit Sawant on Friday. “They could have been involved in the crime on finding the victim alone,” the officer said. Plumbers and electricians have been questioned.

The police have not yet ascertained the value of the stolen jewellery and cash as the victim’s children are still in shock.
