Celebrity visits at college festivals are commonplace, but this weekend, Wilson College’s Polaris, is taking things up a notch. NBA superstar Chris Bosh is going to visit the event. “He will make an appearance to boost Polaris this year. He will even interact with students,” says Natasha Mathias, public relations head of the event.

The eight-time NBA All-Star is in for a huge welcome at the BMM festival, which even includes an event that is dedicated to him. Students are competing in a video contest titled ‘Namaste Bosh’, wherein they have been asked to come up with unique ways to welcome him.

“This time, all our events are fresh and unique. We are doing things that have never been done before,” says Mathias. The theme for the festival — with over 40 colleges competing this year — is Colour Me Quirky. Events include Polaris President 2013, which requires contestants to present an online campaign speaking about themselves.

Subsequently, they will battle it out with fellow participants in a debate, and then entertain judges by talking on a given subject. In each round, a few students will be eliminated. Polaris is being held between July 19 and 21 at the college located at Marine Drive.
