Commuters on the Central Railway (CR) were inconvenienced by a mega block, with the main and harbour line services being disrupted for four hours owing routine maintenance work on Sunday.

However, on the Western Railway (WR), the mega block was restricted only to the fifth independent line between Borivli and Goregoan. Barring delay of a few minutes, trains were on schedule.

On the CR, the mega block was between 11.30am and 3.30pm. While the block on the main line was between Kalyan-Thane on the up-line on the fast-track, on the harbour line services between Vadala-Mahim and the up-line between Kurla-CST were suspended. Overcrowded trains on the main line were behind schedule. On the harbour line , services towards Bandra and Andheri were also suspended and CST-bound services were diverted to the main line. Passengers complained that slow line services were behind scheduled till 5pm.
