The crime branch, on Friday, arrested top cricket bookie Shobhan Mehta, 48, alias Shobhan Kalachowkie, from Goa, who was wanted in connection with the T20 betting case registered in the city.
Mehta has an account in the name of ‘Arjun’ in betting circles and he has been arrested for the second time. He was last arrested in 2005.
Mehta was arrested by a team from the property cell of the crime branch, led by inspector Nandkumar Gopale and assistant inspector Nitin Patil. Mehta was with his family at the time of his arrest.
Crime branch sources said the crime branch was on the lookout for Mehta ever since the betting case was registered on May 15.
