Two persons were injured when eleven coaches of a passenger train between Gandhidham and Bengaluru passing through Mumbai derailed between Bhiwandi and Kopar stations of Mumbai division on Central Railway. Incidentally, an alert passerby had informed the railway SMS helpline that some
"strange noises" were coming from the tracks at the accident site, just minutes before the accident occurred.

Eleven coaches of the 6505 Gandhidham Bengaluru Express (7th to 18th coaches) derailed on the Diva-Vasai section at 12:38 am on Wednesday, blocking rail traffic on the two-line electrified line.

"Two persons travelling in the train sustained minor injuries. They were rendered first-aid and continued with their journey. The names of the injured passengers are Prabha ben (38) and Jaikishan Rohida (41)," SC Mudgerikar, Central Railway's chief spokesperson said.

Restoration work was immediately started. One line was normalised for train operation at 3.45 am. Relief Train with the same composition was immediately arranged and the passengers of the affected train were accommodated in the relief train which left for Bangaluru at 5.15 am.Teaand Breakfast was arranged for the passengers at Kalyan.
