Grainy footage holds up suspect’s sketch

In a setback to the February 21 Hyderabad blasts probe, a Howrah-based artist who was shown the CCTV footage of the blasts has failed to come up with a sketch of the suspect as the video was too hazy.

“To make an illustration of any face, one has to have a clear idea of the outer part of the face, the nasal cavity and the eye cavity. However, none of these elements were clear in the footage,” said Debasish Banerjee, who has been drawing illustrations for police forces across the country since 1997. The NIA, which is probing the twin blasts, showed Banerjee the footage last week.
