The Ghatkopar police arrested a 34-year-old shopkeeper from his Ghatkopar (West) residence and seized gutkha sachets worth Rs. 4.3 lakh after raiding his residence on Friday evening. Police said Arvind Chaurasiya had stored the gutkha at his residence in order to sell it in retail at his general store.

The police officers received a tip-off about the location of the gutkha after which a team from the Ghatkopar police raided his house at around 7.15pm.

“After searching his house, the police found the gutkha sachets. The police seized the packets and arrested Chaurasiya for selling noxious food items,” said Prakash Sutar, sub-inspector at Ghatkopar police station.

The police are interrogating Chaurasiya to find out about the distributor from whom he got the products. Further investigations are underway.
