Singh told media persons in Mumbai on Saturday that discussions were on with Advani. But he maintained that everyone wanted Modi to be projected as PM candidate and rejected an RSS hand in selection. He skipped further questions saying, "Ye andar ki baat hain (this is inside story)."

Taking Modi's candidature forward, Singh asked the Congress to name its PM nominee. "I wish to ask my friends in Congress who is their PM candidate?”

He said Modi could continue as CM of Gujarat. "There is no constitutional issue here. I will discuss the matter with Modi soon."

Singh expected the NDA to expand further before and after the polls. "We will decide alliances only after taking our original allies on board." He said similar yardstick would apply to the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena whose chief Raj Thackeray bonds well with Modi.

Earlier in the day, Singh assured trading community in Mumbai that the NDA would arrest economic slowdown. "Give us majority in the Lok Sabha and see to yourself a paradigm shift in all sectors," he told a function.
