The blood sample reports of half of the 92 revellers detained at a rooftop party in Juhu's Oakwood Hotel on May 20 show that most of them — 44 of the 46 — had consumed drugs, Mumbai police chief Arup Patnaik said on Friday.
Of the 44, 27 tested positive for cannabis, one for MDMA, which is classified as a hard drug, and 16 for both. Eight of those who had consumed narcotics are foreigners. The police, however, refused to divulge any names.
The reports of the rest, which includes IPL players Rahul Sharma and Wayne Parnell who were also at the venue, are awaited.
“It was a drug-dedicated party,” Patnaik said, adding that the reports will be sent to additional commissioner of police (west region) Vishwas Nangre-Patil, who had conducted the raid, and those who have tested positive will be arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act, 1985.
In such cases of consumption, a person is arrested and released on bail immediately thereafter. “The Kalina forensic science lab will send us reports of the second batch of 46 samples within a few weeks,” said a police officer.
