A group of at least 20 people ransacked a bar in Kandivli and thrashed employees there after some underage boys were denied entry to the bar, late on Thursday.

When a few boys were asked to leave as they were underage, the group called their friends and started vandalising the bar with bamboos, paver blocks and glass bottles.

It was around 10 pm, when Sagar Alhad, 18, Shaban Shaikh, 17 and Mohamad Ansari, 24 arrived at Kaustubh Bar and Restaurant, on MG Road in Kandivli (West).

After the security guard, Abhishek Singh, refused to let a few of them inside as they were too young, they got into a heated argument with him. They then called their friends who arrived with paver blocks and bottles.

Hareshwar Pimple, senior inspector, Kandivli police station said, “All the accused are residents of Laljipada area located near the bar. Four persons were injured, and Singh sustained injuries on his head.”

Others injured include the bar manager  and two staffers.

Although the staffers managed to get hold of Alhad, Ansari and Shaikh, many others managed to flee.

The Kandivli police have registered a case of rioting against 20 youths and are on the lookout for those involved in the incident.
