The only person MLAs Ram Kadam and Kshitij Thakur have for company at Circle 12 – the building where they are detained – in the Arthur Road jail premises, where they will be lodged till Monday, is Abu Jundal, the LeT handler who guided the 10 terrorists involved in the 26/11 terror attacks.
Thakur and Kadam were arrested on Thursday for assaulting traffic police sub inspector Sachin Suryavanshi, and are in judicial custody.
A jail official said security concerns made them to put the legislators in a cell away from other prisoners. “Incidentally, Jundal is also in the same building. Kadam and Thakur are in the cell on the ground floor while Jundal is on the first floor.” Sources said the cell where they are kept is a guard room.
Arthur Road jail superintendent VD Burkule however clarified, “The guard room is actually a cell which had earlier been used as a makeshift guard room.”
