A day after resigning from the Assembly, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) legislator Harshwardhan Jadhav withdrew his resignation on Thursday. He, however, remained firm on leaving the party.
Jadhav said that he was miffed with MNS chief Raj Thackeray for sidelining him. He said that Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar and Assembly speaker Dilip Walse-Patil convinced him to withdraw his resignation . “Pawar said that my resignation would hit my constituency, as there will be no one to handle the drought situation. Walse-Patil requested me to reconsider my decision, as mid-term election would mean unnecessary expenditure for the state.”
Jadhav represents the Kannad constituency in Aurangabad, the region currently facing drought.
The MNS, however, termed Jadhav’s resignation a drama. “The whole thing was engineered by the NCP. The involvement of top NCP leaders is sufficient to prove it,” said MNS legislator Pravin Darekar.
Darekar said that the MNS has decided to ignore Jadhav and his accusations.
Stating that the NCP had no role to play in his decision to quit the MNS, Jadhav said: “I had resigned in a fit of rage. But, my supporters convinced me that my presence is important for my constituency in this hour of crisis.”
