Will the footage from the CCTV cameras installed in Vidhan Bhavan be enough to nail those who assaulted police sub-inspector Sachin Suryavanshi in the corridor on the first floor on March 19?

Perhaps not, as the two cameras that captured the commotion were not zoomed in, and as such, the footage is not clear, sources say.

The CCTV network operator who deposed before the state legislature panel has said the cameras are zoomed in when suspicious activity is noticed.

There were two reasons why it was not done in this case. First, the incident was over in a few minutes, and second, the control room starts monitoring a person or a group if it is alerted by the security officials.

The panel watched the footage on Tuesday and also visited the spot. It has decided to inspect the footage from other cameras.
