Maharashtra fails to get Sachin as de- addiction ambassador

De-addiction and social justice minister Shivajirao Moghe could not give a specific reason when HT asked him why he had failed to rope in Tendulkar.

However, according to sources Tendulkar is ready to endorse the programme, but needs clarity on government agencies involved.

Tendulkar, a Congressnominated Rajya Sabha member, doesn’t want any compensation though.
“It’s a tricky issue,” said Moghe, but did not elaborate further.

Sindhutai Sapkal, a social worker, was appointed ambassador in the female category.
