Leaving the decision to the court, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) did not object to the discharge applications filed by eight of the nine men arrested by the ATS in connection with the Malegoan 2006 blast. The accused, arrested in 2006, sought discharge after NIA exonerated them, claiming that the blast was the handiwork of a right wing terror group.

The NIA has, in its reply to the discharge application, stated that, “It is submitted that evidence collected by NIA in further investigation is not in consonance with evidence collected by ATS and CBI.”
