After a gap of two years, the Central Railways (CR) has revised its suburban timetable, introducing 18 new services, which include 15-car rakes and more fast trains.
The new time table will be applicable from zero hours (12am) on Monday. However, the 15-car services will come into effect on Tuesday, as it is awaiting the Commissioner of Railway Safety's (CRS) nod.
A CR spokesperson said that the first 15-car services would be introduced at 7.33 pm on Tuesday. Till then, trains scheduled with 15-car rakes will run on 12-car rakes.
As per the revised schedule, the CR has also converted 28 slow and semi-fast services into fast services.
"Additional services will be added for stations after Thane which will now be bypassed by the new fast services. Passengers at these stations will get the train at the same time as before," said a CR spokesperson.
According to the CR, all new suburban services will be introduced on the main line, and the number of services will increase from the existing 785 to 803. The number of fast time services will go up from 206 to 234, and peak hour ones from 165 to 170.
In the new schedule, CR has also cancelled seven slow services. CR had last revised its suburban timetable in 2010.
