Dahisar resident Navnit Chudasama has used a unique way to seek lord Ganesha’s blessings in eliminating the country’s travails.

He has placed the idol of the Lord in a 12x8.5x5-foot replica of Parliament in his house.

Chudasama, an electrical manufacturer, created the replica right from his doorstep, and it is complete with life-size cutouts of security guards and toy cars outside.

He has also put up a large poster of members of Parliament opposite the woodand-thermocoal structure.

“The idea was to highlight the problems in the country, including corruption and inflation. I have placed the idol in Parliament so we can pray to him to solve these problems,” said Chudasama, who took three months to make the structure.

The pandal has already attracted around 400 visitors over the last three days, and more are expected before the idol is immersed on Friday.

Many other Mumbaiites too are using innovative themes and grand decorations for their household pandals.

Kandivli residents Aruna Joshi and her husband Santosh have recreated the mythological tale of lord Ganesha writing the Mahabharata as dictated by Ved Vyas.

“The clay idol depitcs the lord writing the epic under a Banyan tree,” said Joshi, an architect. His household pandal sees 300 visitors every year.

At the Dabhade’s Lower Parel residence, an idol has been placed on a tiered structure. Lamps rotate around it.

“This shows the lord as the centre of the universe. Moving lamps make an aarti around him,” said Anil Dabhade, an artist.
