According to the police, the girl’s mother would leave her daughter with her neighbour before going to work. The woman had been baby-sitting the girl for the past three months.  Investigations revealed that the accused sexually assaulted the girl while she was alone.

The accused, identified only as Perry, has been arrested.

“It is unclear when the incident happened as the girl is not able to recall the dates. The matter came to light when the girl complained of pain in her private parts to her mother,” said P More, inspector at Versova police station.

The mother took her to a doctor, who found injuries on her private parts, following which the police were alerted. The girl told her mother that “Perry Kaka” touched her, said police. The woman then approached the Versova police station where a case was registered against Perry.

The police have sent the girl for a medical examination. The accused and the girl are both residents of Versova village in Andheri (west).

The police have arrested Perry under sections of the IPC for rape, causing hurt and outraging modesty and other provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
