The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will now act against contractors and parking attendants resorting to fraudulent practices at the agency’s pay-and-park lots in the city.
Hindustan Times had first reported on January 29 how motorists are fleeced at the MMRDA's five pay-and-park zones situated in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). Motorists have been complaining against the contractors and attendants, but no action was being taken.
“We have formulated a new system, which includes the name of a contact person, landline number and an email address to lodge complaints. Earlier, motorists had to visit the MMRDA office to lodge complaints. Now it will be simpler,” said Aneel Wankhade, deputy metropolitan commissioner, MMRDA.
The authority has also served show-cause notices to some of the contractors involved in malpractices and security personnel have been deployed at parking lots to keep a watch.
