In a minor respite for vehicle owners, petrol will cost 71 paise a litre less in Mumbai from Tuesday. The price cut follows the appreciation in the value of rupee against the US dollar.
Though a marginal cut, Monday's announcement by state-owned oil marketing companies comes as welcome news for consumers after hikes in the prices of diesel and cooking gas.
Petrol will now cost Rs. 74.43 a litre in Mumbai, with effect from Monday midnight.
In Delhi, it will be cut by 56 paise to Rs. 67.90 and in Kolkata by 70 paise to Rs. 75.44 a litre.
In Chennai, petrol will cost 71 paise less at Rs71.48 per litre.
