The police said the third accus-ed, Vikram Singh, 23, was arrested from Bandra (East) on Friday afternoon by the Oshiwara police.

The police had, on Thursday, arrested the garbage collector Vishal Tak, 20, and the building watchman Shivkamal Rajput, 20, in connection with the case.

"Singh, a resident of Nerul, worked as a spot boy. He was in hiding and kept moving between Andheri, Nerul and Bandra to evade arrest, before he was arrested from Bandra," said an official from the Versova police.

The police also said that Singh will be produced before a metropolitan court on Saturday.

"We have recovered the 5.5 tolas of gold jewellery that Fernandes was wearing at the time of the murder - a chain, a pair of earrings, a ring and a bangle - collectively worth Rs. 1.7 lakh," the official added.
The police said that Tak, during his interrogation, said that he and his two associates were in need of money.

"He said he had seen the jewellery owned by the victim and also knew that she was not keeping well. Having monitored the couple's movements, he knew that her husband would go out daily to get food items or vegetables," said the official.
