Sandeep Kumar, son of builder Sunil Kumar Lahoria, who was gunned down in Vashi on February 16, lodged a police complaint on Tuesday alleging that he had received a threat call from one of the suspects named by him. Sandeep has claimed that Emmanuel Samuel Amolik, a former cop arrested by the police, worked for the person, a builder.
The builder’s advocate has, however, termed the allegation an effort to implicate his client. “He did not make any threat call. This is an attempt to implicate my client in the case for reasons best known to the Lahoria family,” the counsel said.
Speaking at the condolence ceremony organised at Loharia’s residence at Sai Pride on Palm Beach Road, Sandeep said: “I got a call on Tuesday from one of the suspects named by me. He threatened me against saying his name before the media. I have complained to the Turbhe police and have informed the police commissioner and deputy commissioner.”
“I have been informing the Navi Mumbai police about the continuous threats I have been receiving from February 16, just as my dad used to receive before he was shot dead,” said Sandeep.
Expressing ire over the cops’ inaction, Sandeep said: “The Navi Mumbai police do not want to take action. They want to finish the case by blaming Amolik. The traffic issue is ridiculous. No one hires shooters over a traffic issue. He is a former police officer. He could have filed a complaint against my father.”
“The police have been changing versions. First they said the shooter, Venkateshwar, had murdered my father as he had not received a commission of Rs10 lakh. Now they have shifted the blame on Amolik. They only want to protect people behind Amolik. I have written to the chief minister and the home minister on the issue and will even go to court to get the case transferred,” said Sandeep.
