The Opposition members, on Thursday, demanded that the MLAs who were suspended for the attack on police sub-inspector Sachin Suryavanshi inside the Vidhan Bhavan during the budget session in March be reinstated. They also want the report of the Ganpatrao Deshmukh committee to be tabled in the legislative Assembly.

The Assembly had suspended Ram Kadam (MNS), Kshitij Thakur (Bahujan Vikas Aghadi), Rajan Salvi (Shiv Sena), Pradeep Jaiswal (Independent) and Jaykumar Raval (BJP) for beating up the officer.

Opposition leader Eknath Khadse raised the issue in the Assembly, immediately after the House proceedings began. “Apart from their suspension, the police have filed a charge sheet against the two MLAs for beating up Suryavanshi. So, it is important to revoke the suspension of the MLAs with immediate effect,” Khadse said.

He also asked why the report submitted by the Ganpatrao Deshmukh panel, constituted to probe into the incident, was not tabled in the Assembly yet. He said that as the panel was constituted by the Assembly, it is mandatory to table the report in the House.

Speaker Dilip Walse-Patil told the House that the government needs to move a resolution on the revocation of the suspension. He said the recommendations and findings of the panel were presented before the House and there was no need to table the entire report.
