The crime branch of the Mumbai police, which is investigating the murder of Sandhya Singh, conducted a search of the area in Nerul where her remains were found, on Friday, in an attempt to gather fresh clues.
The police, who had also visited the scene on Thursday, had found Singh’s soiled kurta and dupatta and the rudraksha beads she wore in her gold necklace and have sent them for forensic tests.
Singh was killed and her body parts wrapped in the clothes she was wearing, said police sources. The crime branch has questioned a lot of suspects, but hasn’t arrested anyone yet. Police are currently probing the possibility of a contract killer being hired by the accused.
Singh, sister of musicians Jatin-Lalit and a resident of NRI colony, Nerul, went missing on December 13, last year, along with jewellery worth Rs20 lakh. Her skeletal remains were found near the Vashi creek in January.
