Ahead of its June 30 agitation against Konkan Railway, a delegation of Shiv Sena MPs and MLAs will meet Union Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee in New Delhi on Thursday to discuss the alleged injustice and apathy meted to the Konkan region on the railway route.

The delegation will be led by senior party leader Manohar Joshi, a party release issued in Mumbai said.

The party said none of the express trains which pass through Konkan have a halt in any of the districts.

The party will raise the demand of converting Sawantwadi station into a railway terminus and starting of a new Sawantwadi express from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) to Sawantwadi daily.

Another demand will be to get a halt for Goa-bound Konkan Kanya and Mandvi express trains at Bhandup, the eastern suburb of Mumbai.

The party also wants increase in the reservation quota for 2 tier and 3 tier till Oras in Sindhudurg district. Similarly, it is also demanding that Matsyagandha and Netravati trains should have reservation quota at prominent stations in the Konkan region.

Revenue Minister Narayan Rane has also announced that he will take to the streets if Konkan railway neglects the Konkan region.

Chief Minister Ashok Chavan had written to Mamata Banerjee last month about converting the Sawantwadi station into a junction and starting more trains from Mumbai to Sawantwadi.
