The season of college festivals continues with yet another event lined up on campus. This time, it’s St Andrew’s annual BMM festival, XYZ. In its fifth year, XYZ, which stands for ‘Exhibit Your Zing’, will have an unusual theme — Detectives Wanted. Keeping in tune with that, the participating college contingents with be named after iconic detectives from popular culture, such as Sherlock Holmes, Thomson and Thompson (from The Adventures of Tintin) and manga character, Detective L.

“We have designed all our events, from literary and performing arts to sports, around the theme of mysteries. As part of the festival, the contingents will also have to solve one ‘perfect crime’ — Case XYZ,” says Joel Thottan, student representative, XYZ. The second day of the ongoing cultural carnival, to be held today, will see over 30 colleges competing to lift the winning trophy.

“This year, we have added an exciting gaming event — something that hasn’t been seen before on campus,” says Ornellius Saldanha, chairperson, XYZ.
