The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Thursday, accused deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) chief Subodh Kumar of violating the model code of conduct. Madhav Bhandari, BJP spokesperson, accused Pawar of violating the code of conduct by promising
road works, farm loans and facility to transport sugarcane to the mills in his speech.

The promises were made at the function to welcome senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde’s elder brother Panditanna Munde in the Nationalist Congress Party in Parli in Beed district of central Maharashtra, alleged Bhandari.

The complaint was lodged by BJP on Thursday.

In another instance, city BJP unit said that it will lodge a complaint against Subodh Kumar for writing a column in a newspaper seeking to justify a decision taken by the government.

City BJP functionary, Sanjiv Upadhye, said that Kumar’s column amounted to an effort to influence voters. A BJP delegation will meet election officials, on Friday, seeking action against Kumar who is a bureaucrat.
