Two Nigerian nationals were arrested on Monday with 150gm of cocaine worth Rs 9 lakh.
The Azad Maidan unit of the Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai police arrested the two on Monday and recovered the drug from them. The police said one of the two accused is a peddler from Hyderabad. Officials laid a trap near Carnac Bunder area near Masjid Bunder and nabbed them.
According to officials, they laid a trap after they received a tip off and arrested Frances Aza, 31 and Sebastian John, 37. The two were on their way to deliver the contraband at around 12:45pm. The customer is yet to be identified.
The duo was nabbed after they were seen moving around suspiciously. On frisking them, officials found 150 gm of cocaine on them.
Sunil Kavlekar, senior inspector of the Azad Maidan ANC unit said, "Preliminary probe revealed that John is a peddler from Hyderabad. He has many customers in Mumbai and provides drugs to local peddlers here. We are getting more details about the accused."
Officials are now trying to get details about the customer. They are also looking into the possibility of the drugs having come to the city for a possible rave party.
The officials have booked the duo under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act and they will be produced in court on Tuesday.
