A day after municipal commissioner Subodh Kumar snubbed Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray came to his cousin’s defence.

“Subodh Kumar should know who Mumbai belongs to. The whole world knows that it belongs to the Marathi Manoos,” Uddhav said on Friday.

This is the second time in a month that the Sena is publicly supporting the MNS on an issue. Earlier this month, Uddhav had issued a statement condemning the police for beating up MNS legislator Harshvardhan Patil.

Raj had called upon Kumar on Thursday, but left in a little over a minute. According to civic officials, Kumar told Thackeray that "Mumbai sarvanchi aahe" and that he was free to give suggestions for the city’s development.

“The person [Raj] who was told off in such a fashion should raise his voice against the statement,” Uddhav said.
