Whistling Woods International (WWI), the Mumbai-based film school founded by filmmaker Subhash Ghai, will be setting up a campus in the UK along with Bradford College, even as it faces trouble over its original campus in Goregaon.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the two institutes in the city on Monday. This is the second international collaboration for WWI, which has already signed an MoU to set up a campus in Nigeria.

The newly-announced Whistling Woods International Bradford College Film School, which will be located in Bradford, will provide three-year undergraduate programmes in filmmaking and animation from September 2013. Admissions to the programmes are already under way and will be open to students who have finished Class 12.

“We have always envisioned being international, in our alliances, in our faculty, and we are living up to it,” said Meghna Ghai Puri, WWI president.

Students from the two institutes had previously collaborated on a film project. That alliance then flowered into a deeper partnership between the institutes. The new school will have faculty from both institutes and will facilitate the movement of students between the two. “Cinema can unite the world,” said Subhash Ghai, founder and chairman, WWI. “Whistling Woods shouldn’t be only in Mumbai.”
