Woman kills daughters, self after husband fails to give her shopping money

A 32-year-old woman from Mumbai reportedly drowned her daughters, aged two months and three-and-a-half-years in a drum, and committed suicide by hanging herself on Saturday, after her husband failed to give her the money he had promised to give her for shopping.

According to police, the woman Sabina Bano Asif Ali, a resident of Sai Baba Nagar in Mira Road (East),  was promised Rs. 10,000 by her husband Asif for shopping, but only gave her Rs. 5,000 on Friday night, promising to give her the rest on Saturday.

But when he did not come back till evening from his slipper shop, Sabina got angry and committed suicide.

According to Asif, Sabina was short-tempered. The neighbours were alerted when her 5-year-old son found her hanging from the fan at around 7pm.
