1984 anti-sikh riots: Nirpreet Kaur breaks fast

Nirpreet Kaur, a victim of the 1984 anti-sikh riots, ended her five-day fast in New Delhi on Wednesday. She was on hunger strike since May 3, after acquittal of congress leader Sajjan Kumar.

She accepted a glass of juice by Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee president Manjit Singh. Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh were also present on the occasion.

Earlier today, Badal met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to press for a Supreme Court-monitored SIT probe into the 1984 anti-Sikh riots cases in the capital.

He said Special Investigation Team be formed to probe the cases under the supervision of the Supreme Court.
