2 women killed by husbands

Two women were allegedly killed by their husbands in different parts of the Capital, in two separate incidents.


In the first incident, reported from the Nangloi in West Delhi, a 30-year-old woman Sunita was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband Sandeep (32) near the Nangloi railway station.

"The couple today met near Nangloi railway station where the husband allegedly stabbed Sunita with a sharp-edged weapon. We believe that Sandeep had come to meet the deceased with intent of killing her. The two had an argument and in a fir of rage the accused killed Sunita," said a senior police officer on the condition of anonymity, as he is not authorized to speak to the media.

The police said that initial investigations revealed that the deceased was allegedly having an extramarital affair in Rohtak where she was staying with her husband. After the two repeatedly got into fights over the issue the deceased left his house and came to stay with her parents.

In the second incident, a 33-year-old woman was allegedly poisoned by her husband in Mandawali area of East Delhi on Tuesday. The woman has been identified as Bharti Gupta.

The police said that the reasons behind the incident are still not clear. The police have registered a case and are on the lookout of the accused.
