A 22-year-old woman was allegedly gang raped by five men, including her two brothers-in-law, in south Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave area late on Tuesday night.
The victim in her complaint filed at the Safdarjung Enclave police station told the police that she had been gang raped by the accused inside a jungle near gate number 4 of AIIMS Hospital.
A police officer said that two of the accused are brothers-in-law of the victim while the others are their friends.
In her complaint, the victim told the police that she lives in RK Puram area and had come to meet her husband for some personal work on Tuesday night.
According to the complaint, the victim’s husband was not at home and the accused were consuming alcohol when she arrived there. The woman left the house and was on her way when the accused allegedly overpowered her and took her inside the jungle.
“They snatched her bag and took turns to rape her before fleeing. The victim, somehow came out of the jungle and sought help from a passerby who in turn made a call to the police control room. A PCR van arrived and rushed the woman to the AIIMS Trauma Center for medical examination. Her medical examination confirmed rape,” the officer said quoting the victim’s complaint.
On the basis of her statement, the officer said, a case under section 376G (gang rape) of IPC was registered and the accused were arrested following late night raids.
They were produced before the magistrate who sent them to judicial custody for fourteen days, the officer added.
