Every time outraged citizens think it can’t get more dastardly than this, sexual predators in the national Capital come up with more gruesome episodes.

Four more rape cases were reported in the past 24 hours. All victims minors — aged between 5 years and 17 years — and a father among the four culprits, all known to the victims.

In fact, the Delhi police statistics show that a majority of accused in the increasing cases of sexual violence against women in the city are known to the victims.

The most gruesome among the four fresh cases was reported on Thursday from central Delhi’s Ranjeet Nagar. A five-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by her neighbour, a safai karamchari employed with the north civic body.

Police have arrested the accused, Vijay Kumar, 32, who reportedly had been sexually exploiting the minor girl for past sometime. A case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 was registered against Kumar at the Ranjeet Nagar police station.

A police officer said the matter came to light after the victim’s mother noticed blood on the girl’s undergarments. She took her to a nearby clinic where the doctor told her that her daughter had been sexually exploited.

“When the mother asked her daughter about the incident, the traumatized girl narrated the entire incident. The victim was admitted to a government hospital and Kumar was booked on the basis of a statement by the victim,” said the officer. Kumar was produced before a local court on Friday and was sent to Tihar Jail.

In the second incident, a 14-year-old girl was raped allegedly by her father when she was alone at home in outer Delhi’s Alipur on Thursday morning. The accused, identified as Ravinder, was arrested after the victim told her neighbours about the matter, said police.

The third incident was reported from north Delhi’s Subzi Mandi where a six-year-old girl was raped allegedly by a 15-year-old boy on Thursday. Police said the accused juvenile assaulted the victim at an isolated place. The girl told her family members about the incident who lodged a police complaint. The juvenile has been apprehended.

In Outer Delhi’s Kanjhawala, an 18-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his 17-year-old neighbour on Thursday evening. Police have arrested the accused whose identity was not disclosed.
