Even as victims of the Gandhi Nagar gang rape and Badarpur rape cases are still recuperating at AIIMS Hospital, another minor girl from Nepal was allegedly raped by her neighbour in South Delhi’s Chirag Delhi on Wednesday morning.

The accused has been identified as Vijay, a native of Rourkela in Odisha. He works as a delivery boy with a restaurant in the Chirag Delhi area.

The accused also allegedly attempted unnatural sex with the four-year-old girl due to which she suffered injuries in her private parts and is undergoing treatment at the AIIMS Trauma Centre, said the police. Her condition is stated to be stable. Vijay attempted to flee after the crime but was nabbed from a railway station in Delhi.

A police officer said Vijay subjected the victim to sexual exploitation after luring her to his room on the pretext of giving her a chocolate. The victim’s parents and brother are daily-wage labourers and were away when the crime took place.

“Since Vijay was her next-door neighbour, the girl went to his room when he promised her a chocolate. Vijay locked the room and raped her. He also attempted unnatural sex,” said the police officer.

Vijay later fled his room, leaving the victim bleeding. Hearing her screams, some women from the neighbourhood informed the police.

Meanwhile, the girl’s statement has been recorded in which she has identified the accused. A case has been registered.
